Open Air Museum
L’OPEN AIR MUSEUM è l’occasione per guardare al porto con la ritrovata consapevolezza dell’importanza che questo ha avuto nello sviluppo dell’identità della città e dei suoi abitanti: i luoghi, i mestieri, le innovazioni hanno coinvolto capitali economici e soprattutto umani. La storia di Genova e del suo porto è quindi la somma delle storie delle donne e degli uomini che in questi luoghi hanno vissuto e che questi luoghi hanno trasformato con determinazione, scelte e fatiche. Per secoli qui e da qui si è costruito, navigato, esplorato e innovato. Una serie di pannelli puntuali e informativi (con QR code con link per approfondire) racconta alcune di queste storie. Questo progetto è stato realizzato grazie al sostegno di Ports of Genoa – Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Occidentale e in collaborazione con i PROMOTORI MUSEI DEL MARE, nella consapevolezza di quanto la grande tradizione imprenditoriale dello shipping genovese sia stata e rappresenti un fattore di sviluppo economico, sociale e culturale per la città. Eredi di questa tradizione, i Promotori operano affinché la memoria storica, il patrimonio di professionalità, di capacità strategiche e organizzative, di innovazione tecnica sedimentata nel corso dei secoli diventino ispirazione per i giovani. Nella sua veste di istituzione culturale privata, l’Associazione Promotori ha lo scopo di affiancare e sostenere il Mu.MA – Istituzione Musei del Mare e delle Migrazioni del Comune di Genova nelle attività di conservazione, valorizzazione e promozione del patrimonio marittimo ad essa affidato e nel suo posizionamento come polo culturale marittimo di riferimento per la città e per il contesto nazionale e internazionale.
The OPEN-AIR MUSEUM allows visitors to observe the port with a renewed awareness of the key role it played in developing the identity of the city and its inhabitants: the expansion and growth of the port and its activities required economic and, above all, human capital.
The history of Genoa and its port is therefore a sum of the stories of the women and men who lived, worked and transformed them with perseverance, smart choices and hard work.
For centuries people built, sailed, explored and innovated here and from here. A series of display panels (with QR codes providing links to further information) recount some of these stories.
This project was made possible thanks to Ports of Genoa – Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, in cooperation with PROMOTORI MUSEI DEL MARE (Promoters of the Maritime Museums) with the awareness that the great entrepreneurial tradition of Genoese shipping has been and continues to be a driving force for the city’s economic, social and cultural development.
Heirs to this tradition, the ‘Promotori’ strive to ensure that the historical memory and the wealth of knowledge, skills and technical innovation acquired over the centuries become an inspiration for the younger generations. As a private cultural institution, the ‘Promotori’ support Mu.MA – (Institute for Maritime and Migration Museums of Genoa) to preserve, enhance and promote the maritime heritage it has been entrusted with, with the aim of making it a national and international reference centre.
